1. Pedagogical Knowledge in Teaching of English Language Arts

Developing Figurative and Descriptive Language, Techniques Used to Convey Similar Meaning in Film

This lesson was taught for my language based mini-lesson for ECI 430 Language Art Methods. My "students" were my fellow members of my cohort and my methods professor, as of yet it has not been taught to actual middle schoolers. My focus was on descriptive language (adjectives and adverbs) as it pretains to viewing flim as well as literture.

I think this lesson plan accurately reflects my approach to teaching grammar and lagnague. I think it also idicates by interest in film and integrating film literacy into the language arts classroom as an integral and equally valid genre of literature.

2. Pedagogical Knowledge in Teaching of Social Studies

North Carolina in the New World (8th Grade Social Studies Unit Plan)

This unit plan was done for ECI 407 Teaching Writing Across the Curriculum. The intent of this unit was to demonstrate teaching writing more than merely devoted to the content.  Or rather the conent was only a means to an end, teaching writing skills. My conent focus was on the early European exploration of North Carolina.

Truth be told the writing assignments are slightly excessive to what I would do in real practice, but  that was to serve the inent of the assignment, to show my skill at teaching writing. It does though posses the same logical flow that I try to give all of my lesson plans, as well as units. In that way I think it acuratley depicts my approach to teaching history.
